Head of Compliance

ROLE SUMMARY:
As the Head of Compliance - Client Brands, your focus will be to ensure that our business has all the necessary operational compliance expertise to drive our ambitious growth plans. This role is unique - in that we need someone to balance compliance requirements, with a clear view on the fast-changing landscape that is Sweepstakes.
You will ensure that we comply with all relevant industry regulations and partner/supplier internal policies and compliance requirements. You will be directly responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with PSP and banking partners. You will also ensure compliance with Payment Service Providers (PSPs) and banking partners to ensure optimal payment flows, by minimizing risks, and maximizing operational efficiency. You will be responsible for ensuring that KYC, responsible gaming and anti-money laundering programs and policies are up to date and adequately followed. You will manage all incoming ad-hoc legal and compliance requests and challenges, and conduct periodic reviews to ensure the company remains compliant. You will ensure internal processes and procedures align with best practices in terms of compliance and fraud management. You will be responsible for providing regular updates and reports to senior executives on any and all relevant matters involving compliance and AML.
This role is essential to ensure we comply with financial, partner and jurisdictional requirements and we deliver a seamless experience for customers. You will also have responsibility for ensuring that various sites and products supporting the payments function are built and maintained to a high quality standard.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Payment Network Relationships :
- Maintain end to end communication with PSP partners to ensure compliance with signed contracts and ongoing policies.
- Monitor PSP performance and escalate compliance issues when needed
- Support PSP Business Development in successfully acquiring and activating new PSP (& other payment and financial) partners.
Compliance Management:
- Ensure all payment operations are in full compliance with local, international, and industry-specific regulations (e.g., anti-money laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements, and data protection laws like GDPR.
- Stay updated with evolving regulations across jurisdictions and implement changes to policies and procedures as required.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as legal, operations, billing, product and risk management to ensure that payment, KYC and AML practices adhere to all required standards.
- Conduct regular audits of processes to ensure full compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
Risk & Fraud Prevention:
- Collaborate with the fraud management team to develop strategies to detect and prevent fraudulent activities within the payment system.
- Implement risk mitigation measures in the payment process, ensuring protection against financial fraud and chargebacks.
- Serve as the primary point of contact on all legal affairs related to legal opinions, Ts and Cs, payments, compliance, KYC etc.
- Work with external legal counsel where required in issues of user complaints, cease and desist orders or other regulatory correspondence and challenges.
- Provide detailed reports on payment system performance, transaction success rates, costs, and compliance risks.
- Report on PSP performance metrics, identifying opportunities for cost savings, process and authorization improvements, or risk reduction.
- This role will require the formulation of an approach that allows us to leverage our internal scale & experience to directly address things like chargeback ratios, in partnership with our Billing team.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years experience in the compliance in iGaming or iGaming-related businesses
- Relevant industry certifications such as CFE, CAMS, CIA, AML will be considered an advantage
- In-depth knowledge industry regulations, compliance, AML, responsible gaming and licensing of different business verticals
- Solid understanding of payment systems and/or regulatory compliance in the gambling/gaming industry. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, meticulous attention to regulatory detail, and strong relationship management skills to ensure both compliance and business efficiency.
